Conditions
- Total or partial incapacity for work (ZUS assessment)
- Required insurance record: min. 1 year (under age 20) to min. 5 years (age 25–30)
- Incapacity arose during or shortly after the insurance period
- Amount depends on contribution base — minimum after revaluation 1.03.2026 is 1,978.49 PLN
Do not confuse with the social pension — that one requires no work record but only covers incapacity arising in childhood/study.
How to apply
ZUS application (ER-1)
Submit form ER-1 at your local ZUS office — in person, by post, or via PUE ZUS.
Medical examiner assessment
ZUS will refer you to a medical examiner who will assess your degree of incapacity for work.

- How does disability pension differ from the social pension?
- The social pension requires no work record but only covers incapacity arising before age 18 (or 25). The FUS disability pension requires an insurance record but covers incapacity arising at any age.
- What is the minimum disability pension in 2026?
- The minimum for total incapacity is 1,978.49 PLN gross/month (after revaluation 1.03.2026). Partial incapacity is 75% of that (~1,483.87 PLN). The actual amount depends on your contribution base.
- Can I work while receiving a disability pension?
- Yes, but the pension is suspended or reduced after exceeding 70% or 130% of the average salary threshold.
